I've been so neglectful of my blog lately, I just don't seem to have enough hours in the day. Nonstop house showings (a good thing!), compounded by bronchitis (not awesome!), has left me a bit depleted and focusing on getting better and getting our house sold. We had a little hiccup there, but I know we'll get there. :)
In the meantime, I needed a break from the vacuuming and treated myself to a trip to J.Crew to see new offerings, some of which aren't online yet. I liked quite a bit of what I saw.
The Liberty Tresco floral print was front and center at my store, with the toothpicks, a mini, the invitation clutch and shirt options. I tried the mini and the Invitation clutch. The mini is just too mini for me nowadays, but it was cute. I tried my normal skirt size, 4, and probably would size up to a 6 for a touch more length, if I was considering it.
The Invitation Clutch was my pick for the print. It's really vibrant and fun, and will go with nearly everything. It's a nice thick cotton, in the usual Invitation size and shape, which I find really practical, as you can fit quite a bit in there. Some of you might prefer a leather (which would probably lengthen the lifetime of it), but I kind of like the cotton. Makes it much more lightweight, which is nice for the warmer months. I think the chain is great, especially with that little bit of print at the top, and it can be tucked away if you want to use it just as a clutch.

I certainly do not envy you - that cleaning for house showings gets old pretty quick. We'll be in that situation soon enough - right now I am trying to clear out a lifetime of toys, clothes, books etc. from our attic. And to be not feeling well - I hope you can get a little rest soon and feel better!
ReplyDeleteI pre-ordered the Tresco invitation clutch, and I think it is pretty and cute too, and am keeping it. I also prefer the cotton over leather for the warmer months!

I agree that cotton is nice and lightweight and I prefer it. I got the tote in this print just a couple of days ago that I ordered online with my rewards card. I need more room than a clutch could offer. I like the print for accessories. Clothing--no. Way to busy and bright. That combo is a nice accessory or accent piece though.
ReplyDeleteI must clarify. Just read and article in March Elle or some other super thick fashion mag. Anway, there is a new take on age for minis. I have great legs as my best feature and wear minis still. I won't give away my age but I am much older than you:) I think you look great in the mini but the print is just too much IMO. I think it depends on what your body's best feature and age should not be the concern with minis. I really enjoyed the article . I gave the mag to my friend otherwise I would look it up! Sorry.
DeleteGreat reviews. Good that you took some time for yourself in the midst of all that is going on in your life. The skirt is quite short. I agree that the clutch/ or scarf is a nice way to enjoy the print, but they are still rather pricey. I'm crossing my fingers. GOod luck with your house sale. we moved 3 years ago, so I still remember...

The Tresco print is adorable, and loved both the clutch and the scarf I saw IRL... I would love to have the scarf, but the price is out of my range.
