Our house is officially on the market, and we had our first broker's open house today, as well as another showing after that was over. Whew! It's a lot of work to sell a house! Not to mention tricky to keep a 5-year-old entertained for hours outside the house. It's exciting though, and I tell you what, this house has never been so clean. I'm really enjoying the zen of a cleared out and uber-clean house, I must say. That said, I'm glad neither of us requires the house to be this spotless all the time. Impossible!
Since I've been so involved in getting the house prepared, sale and review posts have taken a bit of a back seat. Today I did have time to pop into Old Navy for something, and tried on a few dresses.
The first, and my favorite was the Striped Jersey Dress in navy and red. Not tissue thin, but not as thick as the JC Maritime dress, it was a great length and fit in a medium (no small to try). The content is 95% cotton, 5% spandex, which I like. These are really great for spring/summer running around. It was on sale in my store for $15 on clearance.
The next dress was the Crepe Dress in navy poly with little white keys all over it. This was a small and I wouldn't size up on this one. The last has elastic in the back of the waist, and the neckline is wide, but not showing bra straps. The armholes were really long though, and showed my bra. The top part poofed out a little bit, but I think a belt would make this all work better. The length was fine, just above the knee. 100% polyester though, and felt like it, so it's definitely a pass. This was full price in store.
The final one was the Flared Ponte-Knit Dress I tried in a medium in black and a small in red. The medium felt better to me. It had potential, but unfortunately, it was too high-waisted and short, so it looked a bit too little girl. A differently-shaped body or a younger woman than me could pull it off I'm sure. It was $22 in clearance.
They also had some printed canvas ballet flats in clearance for $8.99 - the purple umbrella print and yellow/white polka dots.
Have a great day!
p.s. The Kate Spade surprise sale ends today. Were you shopping this one? They had some cute items up this round, like the Knock on Wood Car Clutch, the Great Expectations Book Clutch, and Kissing Cockatoos Bangle.
p.p.s. J.Crew Factory is offering 30% off final sale, though it gets picked over throughout the day. They do refreshes in the morning usually, just like the retail site, fyi.

i am really liking the striped jersey dress - if i feel well enough tomorrow perhaps i will pop down to my store.
ReplyDeletethanks for the reviews!
I hear you about the house ready for sale, after it was all cleaned and staged I wondered why we haven't done it when we were actually living in the house ;)
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your sale!
Cute dresses!! I love the blue one on you the best! I think I need a pair of hunters too because they look great on you! Good luck on the house, I think I need to sell just so I can have that zen feeling in my home! haha. :)

Good luck with the house! Hopefully you guys are in a place where the market is doing well and you'll get a nice deal.
ReplyDeleteI like the striped dress and I may look out for it this weekend.
I got the "Great Expectations" Book Clutch. I've wanted one (mostly the Wilde or Fitzgerald one) since I first saw them, but $325 is too much for me to spend on essentially a wallet. I squealed when I saw it and bought it immediately.
No more Factory sale picks for me. I just got my daughter and I the "matching" Bike Petals tees. Also my critter necklace has already arrived, even though it shouldn't have shipped until mid-April.
T.J. Maxx has a bunch of deals right now too. I got a lovely pair of Portolano cashmere lined leather gloves for $15.00, a few latte bowls that are the same brand as Anthro's so they nest nicely, and a cute leather bag by a brand called Baekgaard for $10.00. I guess it is/was owned by Vera Bradley? It's kelly lined in violet, it'll be nice for spring.
Thanks for the reviews!
Congrats on your house!
ReplyDeleteSometimes it's nice to start all over and re-fall in love with things you already have and forgot about or try new things. This translates to both new things for your new place and emptying out your closet for the move.
