Jumping on for a few moments. It has been a crazy week, with the little one's birthday (which was lovely and low key), the bathroom remodel and the house showings (went well!). Now I find myself down with a horrid virus, so have been neglecting you all terribly. I promise I'll get to your comments and my spring rollout picks at J.Crew as soon as possible!
I received email that L.L. Bean Signature rolled out some new spring arrivals and the photo they used caught my eye. Clean neutrals are always really pleasing to my eye, and are usually what I reach for, even though I also love some bright color.
I appreciate L.L. Bean's quality and customer service more than ever, and while I haven't bought a lot from their Signature Line yet, I've been very happy with the pieces I have purchased so far.
First is the Poplin Dress in Polka Dot, shown above. It's paired with the very sensible and pretty Fine-Gauge Cropped Cardigan. I like a crisp poplin dress, and this one looks so clean and classic. A little dressed up for every day, but perfect for a lunch out or a shower. The cardigan breaks up the dots a bit, which is nice. I'd likely change out the belt for one of my own. I have an older J.Crew skirt (Nicky?) in a very similar color/print and I love it. They also offer this in a solid navy.
Of course we've all seen endless striped dresses, but I love the chocolate/khaki colors of the Sailor Striped Dress.
I'd pair it with the Ankle Strap Flat Sandal just as they have, which offers a leather footbed and sole.
The Lightweight Keyhole Top looks airy and chic in those neutral tones, though I'm bummed that it's a rayon/cotton mix.
Finally, the Heritage Leather Clutch. Classic, easy pebbled leather, in this great neutral, as well as in navy and rustic orange. The $59 price tag is very reasonable too.
I also stopped at regular L.L. Bean the other day to pick up one of their Waterhog doormats (awesome btw), and tried out a cute Linen Cotton Dress. They only carried a size small (they need to get some smaller sizing, stat), which was a little too big, especially in the lower have. It went a bit below the knee, which made it look too dowdy on me, especially if I want to wear flat sandals, but that's easily remedied by ordering a petite or hemming. Love the natural fibers, and the mallard color was very pretty (reminiscent of J.Crew's nightfall blue almost). It also comes in a basic khaki, steel blue and olive, and is priced at only $59. The reviews on it aren't great, with a lot of people complaining about linen (odd, since it's right there in the name!), but I personally think it could be a great little everyday dress for spring and summer.
Hope you're having a great day!

The clutch is a pick of mine too. They offered it in a fabric/canvas and leather combo last summer that I own and is gorgeous! I got it with my LLBean Coupon dollars for only $19:) I would like to get this version too but will hope for a super sale price like I got on the other. There is also a suede version that is on sale for about $40 in 3 colors. Eyeing that one as well.
ReplyDeleteWow, $19 is such a steal! I think these do usually make it to a sale price, although even there once-in-a-while 15% off deals would make it a no-brainer. Love the suede as well, though I'm probably too hard on my clutches.
DeleteThe Polka Dot Poplin Dress and Sailor Striped Dress are definitely on my list. I'm waiting them out though. I don't need them (I have a navy Ralph Lauren polka dot dress thanks to FFM, and enough stripes to choke a sailor haha!) so I'm waiting until they're discounted. Tough game though, I missed out on the Flannel Bias Dress playing it (though I have the other 2 colors so that's fine).
ReplyDeleteSorry you're sick! We all just got over something over here. Get better soon!
Thanks! Both of those dresses are so cute, and I'm sure you can wait them out a little bit until a sale comes around.
Deletei hope you feel better soon, m!!
ReplyDeletegreat picks as usual!! you just reminded me i have a camel/white polka dot dress hidden in my closet. :P
Thanks P! Love when I am reminded of those gems tucked away. :)
DeleteGreat picks. I love the polka dots in the subtle color combo- clean and fresh! I am always on the lookout for a great sundress.
ReplyDeleteYes, totally agree, it just looks clean and fresh!
DeleteI'm digging the chocolate striped dress. Agree about the color love.
ReplyDeleteMakes it not quite so nautical/literal. Not that I don't also have anchors up the wazoo. ;)
DeleteThanks for the nice comments about our line!
ReplyDeleteMy pleasure, thanks for offering us some lovely items to dream about for spring! :)
