Today is a departure from my normal retailers, as a recent Sundance Catalog caught my eye and my boho-non-prepster spirit. This side of me is usually fueled by Anthro, but I definitely got that same vibe here.
I waited until I had at least free shipping, and then happened to get a 15% off code in my catalog on top of the free shipping, so there you go. (free ship coupon code is working for me: HJD1S) I had several items in my wishlist, but I ordered only the two pieces that would truly get a lot of wear in my fall and winter wardrobe, the Copenhagen Cardigan and the Fleece Lined Handwarmers (which I've been looking at for years, seriously -- why have I waited?).
I'm one of those people that wears sweater coats all the time -- in the house, running errands, preschool dropoff, with my pjs. People usually either love them or hate them. The price on this one, with the discount, was reasonable, considering what it might have cost at Anthro. I debated the colorway I wanted in the cardigan for ages, and finally after opening up my sweater bins, found that I oddly have a dearth of red in my wardrobe. Why is that? It's a great color for blonds, and I really love it in all things. Yet the only red tops in my closet are the recent Boden acquisition (Retro Top) and a red old school J.Crew cardi (Sophie). So I chose the red colorway.
It's 100% soft and heavy lambswool, but isn't itchy to my skin at all (though I'm not uber sensitive), and is hand-washable (yay). The fair isle is classic and cheery, and the collar is very fun and not too over-the-top. The size small is a fine fit, though a bit wide and rectangular, but will allow me to layer at will. I could have done the XS, but I'm ok with this size. It's very warm and thick and cozy, and layered up, I can probably wear it on the warmer winter days. I wore it all day, and there were a couple minor pills under my arms, but nothing unexpected with lambswool.
I'm a huge fan of the whole handwarmer thing. I need my fingers almost all the time when I'm outside, maneuvering the kiddo into his carseat, fiddling with keys, playing on my phone, etc. So I've found the fingerless thing to be fabulous. TheFleece Lined Handwarmers are handknit by Nepalese women, which I love. It gives them a chance to make money at home, while caring for their families. There were a ton of color choices in these gloves, but I went for the kooky colorful ones, just because. They're adorable, and cozy and soft b/c of the fleece. Kind of want them in every color. I also just stopped at Anthropoligie and they're carrying this exact colorway (called Bomma Fingerless Gloves there and priced the same), as well as headbands in two colorways. I took pictures of those as well.
Have you ever purchased anything from Sundace before? The Gretchen Cardigan is cute, as is the Fairisle Sweater Coat. Their jewelry looks really pretty, there are some great boots, and I dig some of the furniture too.
Have a great weekend everyone!
