j.crew sale shoe reviews: jayne, suede martina, snakeskin lula, bronze valentina.

Hello everyone!

Lots of shoe reviews for you today, as I went a little (a lot) nutty with the recent discounts and promos at J.Crew. I sold some other shoes on ebay to make room for them, so that makes me feel better. (I'm still going for the one in, one out thing.)

I'm happy to report that I love them all. I bought them with fall in mind, as my summer shoe collection is well set. Last year, we were lucky enough to have a long, fairly dry fall, and I was able to wear things like suede and lighter leather flats for many months. Anyway, on to the reviews.

Jayne T-Strap Ballet Flat in bronzed beige.  I tried these out prior to final sale, and felt comfortable re-ordering. I had ordered my normal 8.5 and a 9, b/c I'm not sure this year as much on sizing. I almost always sized up in JC flats, but this year, some have been fine in regular sizing. I definitely needed the 9, or it would have been too tight and rubbed over my big toe bone (er, whatever that part is). It still might rub the first time wearing, but it's a nice soft leather that should stretch.  The color is a lovely neutral tan, and I think the gold fishbone chain is such a pretty accent. Sad to say, it is not a leather lining, which is why I waited for it to drop to a much lower price point before ordering. I prefer the leather lining of course, but I love the shoe enough to forgive it. They have brought this shoe back for fall, in a new brilliant flame color.

Martina Suede Wedges in slate. I have the casablanca blue patent Martinas and love them, so knew the suede version would be lovely as well. I can wear a wedge out and about, versus a heel, so it's more practical. I have a number of jeans that are longer (and I prefer them that way), and have been wanting some wedges to pair with them for fall and winter. These fit the bill.  The color is pretty, though I will have to use some protectant spray on them. I sized up again to a 9 in these -- they run small.

Collection Lula Ballet Flat in Snakeskin, nutmeg.  These are really a lovely color, and I like the black edging with the rich nutmeg color. What a perfect color for fall! And winter, really (though not in the slush/snow of course!)  I sized up to a 9 in Lulas, b/c I don't like them tight across the top or they rub on my last two toes. Valentina Pumps in Bronzed Rust.  Along with many others, I'm very much on the Valentina bandwagon. Perfectly comfortable low heels that still look pretty and elegant. Ooh, this color is so much prettier in person than I expected. Gorgeous with warm fall tones! I'm planning to wear these for a fall wedding, and they will be perfect. I personally size up to a 9 in Valentinas, but many (maybe most?) have reported they are fine with their regular size. I stick a little heel cushion in back to help with any slipping, and my toes do not feel smushed.
