First, I just wanted to mention there is a huuuuge slew of new sale items today at Anthro, and they are offeding free shipping on $100+ right now, so it's worth a looksee! I was thrilled to see my wishlisted Whipstitched Akebia Slides (Jack Rogers sandals) in pink drop to $60, which is a great price for JR. They come in a pretty aqua and lime as well and fit TTS. I also love the Buttercup Tote, the Dual Pattered Dolman and Garden Party Shift.
Also, today's Land's End Canvas Destination Deal is $34 dresses. ETA: 20% off and free shipping with code ICECREAM, pin 1040 !! Nice deals to be found! I might have to finally try the Allover Eyelet Dress. I'm guessing it might be too short for me, but I "need" to know. ;) (Yep, and with that extra 20% off, I'm also trying the Silk polka dot dress.
Finally, I had a chance to pop into the J.Crew Factory store once again, which is very fun, as it's an hour away, and I don't normally get there that often. The place was quite crowded and they had most of the store on some sort of sale, and clearance was an extra 40% off (mostly picked over though). I tried on several items I've been checking out online and wanted to see IRL and how they were sized.
First, this denim jacket, which is much softer than any of my current jackets and a bit lighter in weight. Loved it. I grabbed a small and that was the right size for me (especially if I'm doing my usual layering). It's not online currently, but it was priced at $79.50 plus an additional 20% off (would have liked to have seen at least 30% off). It has some "weathering" here and there, but I don't think it was over the top, and would hold up fine, since denim jackets don't hit the wash as often as, say, jeans.
Next, I found a retail neon azalea No. 2 pencil skirt on the rack, and all the pencil skirts were an extra 40% off. This was priced at $75 before the discount. I don't think I even saw this color IRL at my retail store, but it was nice to see it here. I think it's a really pretty, summery, bright skirt, and didn't read totally neon 80's to me. I paired it with a Vintage Cotton striped tee, that was 40% off as well, and thought it was a cute and easy pairing. I also tossed on the striped pocket henley tank in an XS and it seemed way stretched out and huge in the armholes. Bummer b/c I like the color and the covered buttons. So even at 40% off of $15, it stayed on the rack.
I saw this sequin anchor tee, and had to try it on as well. It's priced high at $39.50, but was either 30 or 40%. This was a small, and I'd go with that size. I liked it with my striped jersey maxi. But, I don't need the tee, so I left it there.

I've been eying that short-sleeved anchor cardigan online, and am glad I saw it IRL. First, it's $69.50 FP in the store. It was 30% off there. it's currently $50 online. It's also orange, not red, as one would assume from the color name "RED ANCHORS." You can see it paired with the orange (I think it's Poppy) favorite tank ($7.99 promo priced in store). I tried the sweater in a small and a medium, and honestly, either would work fine. Probably small, but then maybe it would shrink, so I'd do a medium. It was cute, but that thin featherweight, that will likely get trashed after a couple washings. I was tempted, but knowing it wouldn't last, I put it back. I also tried out the stripey one (which was I think $59.50 FP in store), and that was tempting as well, especially b/c I liked the tiger's eye-looking buttons.
Two tees from the sale rack were still priced at $25 before the 40% off discount, and were pretty cute, but nothing I needed. The flag tee was an XS and definitely too small. The blurred dot tee would have worked with my jersey skirt as well, but I'm pretty sure it pops up online for way less.
Overall, I thought there were some cute things at the Factory store, but I wasn't overly wow-ed. I think they are pricing everything at quite a high starting point these days, and that's annoying.
Have you found anything great at Factory lately? Did you shop Anthro this morning? What'd ya get? How about the Canvas deals?

Love the skirt and denim jacket...they look awesome on you! I went to the Hilton Head Factory Store last week while we were on vacation and picked up the tan & white striped cable fisherman sweater for $10! I also purchased the coral/paisley patterned strapless top and a cute white eyelet strapless top. I thought that these would be cute with dressy shorts, a fun necklace, and espadrille wedges for different events that I have this summer. I also took advantage of the LEC deals. I ordered some white and navy shorts and the end-on-end shirt in shocking pink for $12 each. All in all, I've picked up some cute items for good prices in the past week. Thanks for sharing!!
ReplyDeleteHi there! I have and love that sweater -- reach for it all the time. Such a steal at $10! I love those little strapless tops. They're great for every day or for dressing up. LEC deals are awesome this week!
DeleteI also got & really love the fit of the coral/paisley patterned, the purple eyelet, & the madras strapless tops. They really got these tops right with the longer length. I think SWM had given a thumbs up for the navy strapless released earlier.
DeleteFactory also has some nice tee's, I think they're vintage cotton but they feel stronger (w/o being stiff) than the vintage cotton currently available at JCrew. The one I'm referring to isn't online yet.
The color of the blurred dot tee is so pretty. I need another bright blue shirt like I need a hole in the head...but I'm still going to check it out! ;)
Thanks for the reviews SWM!
Love the pink skirt! I loved the wool version so much (and ordered it thanks to your review of that! :)) That I may need to pick up the cotton version! Thanks for the reviews, you look great!
ReplyDeleteI totally see you with the pink cotton skirt for sure! You would have a ton of things to mix with it. :)
DeleteI just got that same denim jackeet - can't wait to wear it!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it cute? It's really soft and not too heavy, so perfect for spring and cool summer nights. (And fall...) :)
DeleteYou and I could share closets -- too bad aren't sisters! I picked up the JR sandals in all three colors and the Garden Party Shift this morning after checking Effortless Anthropologie's blog -- I had a few JR sandals in the past but never wore them until this year b/c they seemed so hard and not-padded, but after giving them a try (and scuffing the very slippery bottoms on all of them after slipping down some stairs in my first pair!), found that they are surprisingly comfy. They seem to mold to your feet or something. Totally unexpected, but great.
ReplyDeleteI also got the eyelet dress and a bunch of others -- do you see that there is an additional 20% off with free shipping at $50 (Promo: ICECREAM, PIN: 1040)? I have a Sears with an in-house LEC very nearby so returns are always easy.
As for factory, all I have is the No.2 pencil. Love the colors this summer but haven't had great luck with the seam at the split. Luckily, my local B&M will do the repairs free of charge, with the result of a much stronger seam. Worth the hassle, at sale price.
As much as I love all things ocean (I am from Hawaii), I cannot get into the anchor trend, even though it's too long-lasting to call a trend, I guess. Good for me; one less set of items to purchase!
Lovely reviews. Oh -- and thank you for that review of the JC linen slicker the other day -- I caught it on popback this morning in a size 6, which I never would have chanced w/o your review (I am nearly always a size 2/4P in JC outerwear). And no final sale so a low risk purchase.
Thanks M! Have a great day!
lol, we really do have such similar tastes! :) Great minds and all... haha. The JR sandals are oddly really quite comfy. I picked them up from Anthro on sale last year and wore them sooo much. Thrilled to get pink!
DeleteI was just editing with the LEC code when you posted your comment, so thanks for that. I'm glad I found it before I hit the order button. I'm giving the eyelet and silk dot dresses a try. I also found some winter items on super markdown via the LE sale section, so was excited for that.
The pencil skirt is really having issues with that split! I hope I don't have the problem, but I'm sure my local store would fix it at least. Annoying. The anchor thing I do like, but not ad nauseum. A little is cute. :) Nice to have one less thing to get though!
Yay for getting the slicker!I saw that 6 up there and hoped someone would be able to snag it. I hope you love it!
Love the denim jacket, Hope it will pop up online some time soon! Also like the neon pink skirt. This shade of pink is not at all the 80's neon and think will go great with a lot of summer colored tops. Thanks for the heads up for the dresses sale at LEC. I was looking at the eyelet dress but you're right, way too short.
ReplyDeleteI hope that denim jacket goes online as well -- I think it would sell quite well.
DeleteAgree that this pink isn't horrid 80's at all. Just fun and bright and cheery.
The eyelet dress is probably going to be too short, but I'm going to give it a whirl. Just in case. I just keep looking at it, and figure, at this price, might as well put myself out of my misery and find out. ha!
i've been looking for that skirt and it doesn't show the extra discount online.. maybe i need to call a store! LOL. thank you for the sale lead M! you're the best!! xox P
ReplyDeleteAre you meaning the pink pencil skirt? If so, it's definitely always different pricing at the factory, so it's worth calling one and checking! :) Hope you can snag one!
DeleteI'm not a big fan of the factory store, the fabrics are just too cheapish looking for the price, but I do love my factory pencil skirts. The neon pink one is gorgeous, that was a great find. I love it when I come across retail stuff there, that makes it worth visiting from time to time!
ReplyDeleteYou tried some cute things - way to go on your restraint! I ordered the Ikat cardi from the factory online and it should get here today - I'd love to make my way to the store and try on some of their denim though. Great score on your JR sandals!
ReplyDeleteI saw the neon azalea skirt as well as a gold one in the factory store as well, yet they were regular JC. The label didn't have the 2 diamonds under their names.
ReplyDeleteI went to my 'local' (about 1.5 hours away) Crewlet over Memorial Day weekend. I don't know why, but I seem to be ignored every single time I go into a Crewlet. This has happened to me in multiple Crewlets in multiple states. Anyway, I picked up a few odds and ends. I got the pink and white striped v neck that you have with the neon azalea skirt. I also got some flip flops for a really great price. I've found that Crewlet tends to put away their summer items by the first of August, so when I saw the flip flops, I grabbed a couple of pairs.
ReplyDeleteI love Lands End Canvas. Sadly, my local Sears is located in a mall that is slowly dying (most of the stores are closed) and the Sears won't take back returns from LEC. While that's not a big deal, I do wish that I had a local LEC. They make really good quality clothes!
