So I officially slipped a disc in my back, which blows, if any of you have experienced this before. But I've started a round of steroids to bring down swelling and hopefully will get back on track soon. Needs to happen ASAP, b/c girlfriend has a nice long vacation coming up at the end of the month!
The steroids can give a bit of insomnia, and I'm lucky enough to be experiencing that. *snort* The upside is that I was able to snag a long wishlisted Anthro item when it hit sale in the wee hours of the morning. Hopefully I love it just as much as when I originally tried it on. It's the Field Biology Dress, which fills the need for some bohemia this spring and summer. I've been on quite a prepster run lately, with all the pink and green and navy and stripes and polka dots....but sometimes, I needs to have a bit of flowiness. It looks a little Laura Ingalls in the product shot, but it's really flattering and pretty on the body. It's ok if you hate it though. ;) Will report back with pics, naturally. Size down in this one.
ETA: I tried it on again this morning at the store, and definitely still love it. I wanted to confirm that the size 2 was right, and it was, so that's all good. (I'm normally a 4, sometimes a 6 in Anthro dresses, so this is definitely a size down piece.)
I also tried on a ton of other pieces that I can't post right now, but will post the Dropped Dots Dress, which I unexpectedly totally loved. It is a dress that kind of needs to be tried on I think, due to the potential over-cutesiness/uber-hourglass it might give. Knowing the reviews said the bodice ran tight, I grabbed a 6, and that was perfect for me. It's a super dark navy, almost black, which is fine by me. Pockets! Love the dip in the back, making it a bit sexier from that direction. It would feel too dressy for me running to Walgreens, but I think it can be dressed down for a shopping/lunch-with-the-ladies excursion, or dressed up for dinner and could even do a more casual wedding with some heels and chic accessories.
Oh, and also looky what I found for $9.95 each! So excited to put these babies away gently for a nice surprise in the fall. :)
Colorblocked Sweater Skirt (p.s. the top was really cute, size small, but $40 still felt too high to me.)

Iced Garland Cowlneck

Also, wanted to mention that J.Crew dropped the price of the navy Blouson Dress this morning, on which you can get the additional 30% off using code SHOPNOW. There is a lot of love for this dress style in blogville, and I resisted for a while, but finally caved and tried it on here in paisley to see what the hype was about. Loved it! Navy has been at the top of my wishlist, and will be making its way to Vegas with me. :)
Oh! Also, Piperlime has 20% off select sandals with code SUMMER. I love the Jack Rogers Rio sandals.

Wow, so much rambling later, and I meant to just show you my uber-comfortable outfit that I'm wearing today, but I totally just deleted the pictures...argh!! (just added below) Will try to retake later and post, but made a little Polyvore set below. Love this maxi from Anthro last year. It's nice for preschool run, but good for flopping (ever so gingerly) straight onto the couch. Have my trusty old Gap jean jacket for early chill, but it's climbing to the 80's today, so that will be shed.
p.s. why can't I left-justify my polyvores anymore? Annoying!
ETA: Here you go, sans jacket:

Have a wonderful day!

Cute running around outfit. I hope you feel better soon. I saw a sign today at a chiropracters office that said on the sign "If your back goes out more than you do come see us!" I thought that was clever!!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Love that sign! :)
DeleteI'm sorry about your back. I know that can be very painful. Good thing you have some comfy things to wear while the treatment starts to take effect.
ReplyDeleteThanks! Definitely not trying to squeeze into anything tight and uncomfortable, haha!
DeleteYou and I are such kindred spirits. I thought I was the only one who loved the field biology dress and I tried it on today too, I'm about to do my first Anthro fitting room reviews so take a look! I do still love it too, and agree it runs huge! Also...Jack Rogers are my FAVE sandal and I just ordered the turquoise/gold rios off Piperlime! :)
ReplyDeleteWe really are! You looked so pretty in the Field Biology -- did you take it home? Love those sandals too. I lucked out getting the ones Anthro sold last year on super sale, and was hooked.
DeleteSorry to read about your back problem, M! Hope you get better soon.
ReplyDeleteI recognize most of the Anthro pieces, as I have tried most of them on! Very cute!
Thanks Rose! I haven't had a ton of luck at Anthro until now this past year, but I haven't give up on them. :)
Deleteoh ouch! I'm glad you're still able to get some shopping therapy, 'cause it certainly helps! Also glad you got the dress- it's fun to indulge a little bohemian every once in awhile!
ReplyDeleteI probaly shouldn't have even gone to the store, but I was sooo bored of lying on the couch. Needed a little bit of exercise. :) I definitely needed a little bohemia. :)
DeleteYour waist looks *this* small in the biology dress. Now that's some anatomy. (slaps knee) Hoping to make you laugh. Wishing you a speedy recovery! What happened...some Made in China J Crew shoes give you the slip...?
ReplyDeletelmao!!! Thanks for that this morning, so needed that. :) Hooray for a slimming dress that's quite comfortable. Winner!
DeleteOh my back has been screaming all week, mine is a chronic condition, it's such a pain, I can't sleep either as there's no way to get comfy, at least you're putting sleepless nights to good use. Mend soon!
ReplyDeleteOh I'm so sorry you have to deal with back pain too. It's just the worst. So are the sleepness nights. Thanks for the well wishes Tabs!
