Hello everyone!
That title is about as clever as I'm feeling today. We just got in from a 5-hour drive and a whirlwind weekend away for a niece's bridal shower. So, I'm feeling a little pooped and ready to put my feet up and watch some dvr-ed brain candy on the telly. :)
The weekend was lovely, though quick. It's always nice to see family, especially when we don't get to see each other often enough. We had a lot of laughs, and caught up on each others' lives. For the shower, I got to pull out some of my J.Crew lovelies, like the Madelene dress and my leopard Valentinas (now down to $99 and worth that price). They were both a hit at the shower, though I felt a bit sheepish when they asked where an item was from, and I kept saying "J.Crew." "J.Crew." "Er, yes, J.Crew again." Oh well, now they'll really remember where to pick up those pretty shoes! They were very comfortable, running to and fro all day, as y'all know is the dealio when you're a hostess. The Madelene was brilliant, with its pockets for stowing cameras and lip gloss, and the cheery green color. Even the pearls willed to me by my late mother-in-law shined, earning me compliments and extra points in a silly game we played.
Here's a quick pic:
We stayed in my mother-in-law's house, as we're just doing the final dust-up before it goes on the market. It was very strange to be in the house with all the tchotchkes gone and wallpaper down, but it's what must be done, and everyone was at peace. I was able to take home a few mementos that make me think of her and the house.
Spring break is over, and it's back to reality here. At least the flowers and trees are in bloom, and it's looking so pretty and spring-y here. I'll be a bit of a mad person the next few weeks, organizing a fundraising event, and then suddenly, it will be nearly May. This year is flying by for me already -- is it for you?

Glad you had a great trip! I'm still recovering from our trip too...luckily we still have a week of spring break in front of us! Love that green dress on you...so pretty!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Hope you had a great trip! So lucky to have spring break to recover. :)
DeleteSounds like you've been and will continue to be a busy bee! That dress is solo cute. And I think I might check those shoes out. I'd like something with a bit of a pointy toe. True to size?
ReplyDeleteI really loved them and have solid colors on my sale wishlist. :) I wear an 8.5 out of JC, and usually go with a 9 in their flats and sandals. I don't do a lot of their heels, and patent isn't as forgiving, so I sized to the 9. That was definitely the right fit for me. They didn't slip on me at all, even after I first put them on, and didn't pinch at the end of the day.
Deletelove the shower outfit- so pretty on you!
ReplyDeleteThanks Amy! :)
DeleteI have that exact outfit, well the shoes and dress. They were made for each other!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like the shower went really well. So much work and I'm sure it was very much appreciated too.
Lovely pearls from your later mother-in-law, what a treasure!
I thought of you when wearing the outfit! They really are perfect together, aren't they? Thanks so much Dani! :)
DeleteLovely outfit! I know what you mean about people asking where your clothes/shoes are from. LOL
ReplyDeleteGlad to know I'm not the only one. I always feel a little crazy when I'm head-to-toe in one brand.
Deleteok, I'm sold- leopard and green is an awesome combination! Glad the whole family was able to get together for such a happy occasion!
ReplyDeleteYou need this dress I think. I hope you can snag it when it hits sale (it has to be soon, no?) :)
DeleteThat dress is just so beautiful. Ah how sad clearing the house must have been, things like that stick with me for days.
ReplyDeleteTabs, I'm dying to hear about your Crewscapades in L.A.! Did you find anything? Was the Madelene in your store to try?
DeleteIt was a bit teary to see the house looking so different, but I think it was also a nice closure for them. We were able to take some of the more meaningful mementos home with us, and now we hope for a lovely young couple to buy the house and give it new life.
Oh you look so pretty, M! Love the dress paired with the Valentinas and pearls! :)
ReplyDeleteThis year is flying by for me, too. Actually, the older I get the faster time passes by...
I hope you're able to get a bit of rest! Enjoy your day! :)
Thanks FFM! :) I agree, the days and years seem to be flying ever faster.
DeleteLove your outfit! Do the valentine's run TTS? I'm crushing on them and that dress! Our year is flying by too!
ReplyDeleteThanks Lizzy! I wear an 8.5 non-JC, and typically wear a 9 in their flats and sandals. Since patent isn't as forgiving, I went with the 9. That was definitely the right fit for me. They didn't slip at all, even after I first put them on, and didn't pinch at the end of the day.
DeleteLOVE this!!! Super cute... Might push me into trying the Madeline and those shoes! I could see myself wearing that outfit in a heartbeat! Glad to hear you had a good time!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I definitely love, love, love both pieces. Look forward to seeing what you think if you try them out. The dress has to go on sale soon I'd think...
DeleteOh and PS... My friends don't even ask where my stuff is from anymore because they know it's all from j.crew... Lol and I totally bit on this dress and shoes after seeing them on you. I actually have a shower this weekend too, and I might totally copy this look depending on when all this stuff arrives at my doorstep! Somebody has been drinking too much crewlade lately...
ReplyDeleteha, glad I'm not alone! Yay, I hope they arrive in time for your shower. It's a perfect shower combo! But I think you'll still get a lot of use from both, since they can be dressed up and down super easily. Let me know what you think about the length. I was going to hem it up, but I kinda liked it long. I suppose I can always hem it if I get sick of the length, but for now, melikey.
