It's been a bit of a tough week for me this week, just trying to get things done, being a bit incapacitated with my back issues. You can tell by my lack of blogging and slow response time to comments (I'm reading, promise!)
I do have to actually keep moving a bit, to help my back, but not too much. Sitting is the worst, ugh! Lying down is lovely, but with a 4-year-old, we know that's a bit pie-in-the-sky. :) I probably should have had a lie-down during his preschool today, but I got my J.Crew Rewards card, and it was obviously burning a hole in my pocket. Plus, doc said to keep moving, to stretch a bit. What, stretching open my wallet doesn't count? ;)
The extra 30% off is still happening in stores (though signs don't show this. One of my stores didn't see to know about it, thereby losing a sale from me).
Anyway, I found several things to pick up at the more reasonable sale prices, including the Big-shot Dot Circle Skirt. This had both yays and nays in blogville, but I think it's really cute and wearable. Not too dressy, not too casual, and the length is appropriate. I think I'll end up wearing it very simply, likely first with my green, navy and neon azalea Spindrift Sweatshirts (Um, I love these!!). The skirt is full price online, but in store is $56 with discounts, and I think that's a nice price. As for sizing, this one is actually kind of a chameleon for me. I've tried 2, 4, and 6, and each time I think it's fine, but for different reasons. The 2 fits at my waist, but is shorter. 6 is longer, but poofier. Anyway, I went with a 4. :) Here are a couple pics of me in the skirt, first is a 2, second is a 6:
Next, I took home the navy (shadow) Scallop Sateen Skirt. I tried this when it was rolled out, and thought "definitely too short." Part of my reaction was b/c it was winter and bare legs freak me out until about mid-summer. I tried a 4 (too short!) and then sized up to a 6 during that try-on session (see pic below), to wear it a smidge lower on the waist and get a bit more length. It's still a mini though. This time, I found an 8 and gave it a whirl, and actually kind of love the whole fit of that. Alas, I didn't get a good picture. I was able to wear it lower on my waist, get more length, and it went a bit more a-line for me. It came to $35 with discounts. I plan to wear it with the neon azalea Raindrop Lace Top as a bit of dress-up (when will this go on sale?!), and for Target runs, with the neon azalea Spindrift sweatshirt or v-neck tee and some navy sneakers/sandals. Like so:

Here's the pic from my original review of the skirt in the size 6:
Next, I found the apple Mini-prints Scarf on sale for $28 with discounts. This one I love, although the price tag was still a bit of a sting for me. But it's sooooo cute with all the navy and orange (modern red) in my closet, that I know the CPW will dwindle. I tried it on with the striped Amie dress (which was $69 I think before discount?), but didn't take home the dress.
Here it is with my OOTD: Old Navy Cropped Trench Coat (found for $12 on clearance!), AG jeans, Talbots flats, J.Crew Linen Cowlneck Tee (see 2nd pic, in case you're debating this as an add-in for an online order. I'm wearing a small, think it's worth the $10, needs a cami IMO):
Finally, I broke down and took home the Chambray Top, which I love (took a size 2). Nearly every day I find myself thinking, ooh, that would be PERFECT to wear today. I'm sure it will drop to $20 next week, but for now, I'm ok with it, since I applied my Rewards money toward it. :) Maybe I'll luck out and get a price adjustment.
Do you have a Rewards card burning a hole in your pocket?
Have a wonderful weekend!

I'm happy to see you are back in action, I've been worried about you this week. Nothing worse than being in pain, and yes lying down when you have a four year old is pretty hard to manage.;)
ReplyDeleteI spent my rewards card on the neon pink tweed pencil skirt I posted about, to wear with my vibrant flame pieces. I also bought the Gondola striped top, I liked the skirt but not on me so I thought I'd try the top. I have the perfect skirt for it so we'll see. I had a big rewards card and for once it wasn't entirely my fault, MrBP did lots of damage at JCrew Mens when we were on holiday.
I hope your back gets better over the weekend and that you get as much rest as you can!
Thanks so much for your good thoughts Dani! I love your neon tweed and gondola stripe choices. Can't wait to see pics!
Deletei'm so sorry to hear about your back. :( i hope you're feeling better. (but a big yay on the big dots skirt!!!! i love mine, and am thrilled to see your positive review of it. your OOTD is adorable. xox hugs from canada.
ReplyDeletelove the dots skirt on you!
ReplyDeleteI used my card to get the fanfare shorts and the tiered ruffle dress (it finally popped back in my size, woohoo).
I hope your back continues to improve!
Hope you're feeling better real soon, M! It's so hard to be a mom to little ones when you're not feeling well! All of your outfits look cute! I tried the Spindrift in the azalea color at my store and I loved it--would have been about $30--but the only clothing money I have right now is my Rewards card and I don't want to use it until I'm sure it's on something I really love and *need*!!
ReplyDeleteHi M, So glad to hear you are feeling better, back pain can be excruciating.... Love your choices, I think you will rock the big shot skirt and I thought that lace pink tee was so beautiful on you and of course perfect with navy. I also like the scarf (almost bought it but I have more scarfs that I can handle, lol) and of course the chambray top, IT will go with all non denim tops. I got the Foulard capris and Hillary dress with my rewards, each around $60.
ReplyDeleteSorry to read about your back issues. Hope you feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteLove the maxi dress and the ON jacket on you!
I'd love to see a picture of you in the size 8 mini. I feel too old for mini skirts, but I love this one so I'm thinking of doing the same and sizing way up.
ReplyDeleteThanks for all your reviews and photos - they're so helpful when deciding what to buy and I'm about the same height and weight as you so they're even more helpful!
