I popped into the Crew to check out some new arrivals and try on a couple sale things.
First up, I wanted to see the Tessa Top. They had it in chili (red), and I loved it. Love the color, love the shape, love the linen. It didn't feel too stiff, and fit in my regular blouse size (2). It wasn't as tricky to get in/out of as the chambray top. :) The pleating at the front and back neckline was pretty. This color and the yellow are on my wishlist. Oh how I wish they had added the gorgeous festival green color!
Another shot of the Chambray Top, which I'll be getting with my rewards card. This particular one had a little hole in it, so I had to leave it (from a removed tag or something -- it's not something that will develop holes). This is a 2, and while it's a little tricky getting on over the head, and *just* fits at the shoulders, I don't want it any bigger. It drapes so nicely and is perfect for wearing with my dahlia and tangerine capris!
The Linen Cable-Knit Sweater in caribbean green has been on my radar. I didn't want to chance final sale on it, even with the extra 30% off, and I'm glad I didn't. I love the color, and I love linen, but for me it was a pass. I would have to wear a cami or tee under it due to sheerness and b/c you can see bra strap. If I have to wear a cami, I'd rather it be a v-neck sweater. I love the shape and the color, and wish it would have worked, but oh well. I have it paired with the Big-Shot Dot Circle Skirt (reviewed previously here), which was in the sale section for $90. I think it's really cute, but the cost per wear at this price point doesn't cut it for me. Wish I would have been able to get the extra 30% off! The skirt runs pretty TTS. This was a 2, and it was fine, but a 4 would be more comfortable.

Thanks for the reviews. That chambray top is on my wishlist and I can't wait to see the Tessa in person. Both look really nice on you. I had the same opinion of the linen sweater; too sheer no matter what color I tried. Have a feeling that sweater would stretch out something awful, too, but that's just me.

ReplyDeleteHI, I have the Tessa in chili and in yellow. LOVE them. So cute. You can dress it up/down. So versatile. Reminds me of the Cynthia blouse from past years. Love the big shot skirt, wish it were on sale on line!!

ReplyDeleteM, my store still had the extra 30% today. Would some stores not have it? That's weird, but J Crew has been weirder! :P I tried the Tessa on today and was planning to use my Rewards card on it, but something about it didn't work for me! The sleeves were really roomy for one. It was really wide at the cuff--not like on the model or you. Hmmm. Makes me want to try it again. The SA said they only got the chili and white colors in the store--she didn't even know it came in other colors. My Rewards card is burning a hole in my pocket, but I'm just not sure what I'll use it on! That's never happened before! LOL
