j.crew reviews: kira (apple print), patent Viv and olympia flat sandals.

Hi everyone!

Let's just assume this week is likely going to be all about J.Crew, with the sale and new arrivals coming. ;)J.Crew's extra 30% off sale is still going strong this week (code MUSTHAVE), with some new markdowns this morning, including the cute Blouson Dress in cerise stripe (I take a 2 in these dresses), the Kira sandals in leather, the Martina tortoise wedges (I have the flats, and they are worn constantly), and some really fun jewelry (snail bracelet, beehive pendant)

Kira Printed Sandals -- I know the apple print is love/hate, and I'm in the love camp, but not on every item. I couldn't do the Jardin skirt, but a little bit of red apple on my feet? Yes, ok. They were marked down during the last extra promo, and I snagged a size 9.  They have a leather lining, and the upper is a kind of canvas-y feeling fabric. When I tightened the buckle to fit snugly, the buckle rubbed a bit on my ankle. So I went down a hole or so, and it fell below my ankle bone and was totally fine. I do wish they'd have made the between-the toes section leather or something smoother (and less likely to attract dirt), but overall they're really darling.

Here's how I'll wear them first:

dove & apples

Viv Patent Flats -- These babies were marked down recently, and pretty much flew off the online shelves quickly. So they're sold out now, but might pop back now and then. A great basic flat, in a great emerald green -- hard to pass up! I sized up to a 9 for these, due to the pointy toe and less-elastic patent, and am glad I did. Definitely couldn't have gone with 8.5.  So cute with pinks, yellows, and navys this spring, but all just for a nice pop of color with neutrals. Jewelry for your feet.

Olympia Leather Sandals -- These were $60 in store before discount, and I grabbed a 9 and thought they'd be a definitely purchase. But after putting them on, they just felt...not me. Too clunky or something and not all that flattering on me for some reason. They were super comfortable, and you can slide them on and off w/o unbuckling (huge plus IMO), and the red color was lovely. But if it isn't love, it's not for me. :)

What do you think of this batch of shoes?

Have a great day!

  1. Love those green vivs!! I wore my leopard vivs earlier this week and I don't remember doing it but evidently I ran into something and took a chunk out of the tip. (sniffle sniffle) I know...you tried to warn me! I just hope the patent doesn't peel away any further.

    1. Oh no! I know, those pointy tips are a little tricky. Is there a piece you can glue back on maybe?

  2. What a great price on the Olympia flat sandals! The brown ones were love for me, unfortunately at a much higher price. I like the other 2 pairs you posted too, but I'm working on the basics right now and those shoes probably aren't versatile enough for me to own at this point. I might try the Vivs in a more neutral color one of these days (or maybe the Madewell version?).

    1. The Olympias are so, so comfortable, and I wanted to go for them, but just didn't need them in my closet, so had to say goodbye. I think they will be a good workhorse in your wardrobe, even at the higher price (boo) The Madewell skimmers are awesome btw!

  3. I LOVE the Viv Flats in Festival Green! You nailed it, they're "jewelry for your feet." These shoes are super, super cute. I wish that I could have gotten such a great deal on them, but I was nervous that they'd sell out, so I grabbed them when they first appeared.

    1. I was surprised they didn't sell out in this pretty color! They did sell out super fast online though, when they dropped the price. I think they are classic, and worth paying a bit more. :)

  5. Hi!
I love the green Viv's! Wish I had seen them! This is totally OT, but I had a question about one of your cardigans. The Anthro Infinite Comfort Cardigan. I missed out and found some on ebay. Just wanted your input. Do they fit TTS? Thanks!

    1. Hi Lizzy! Ooh, this is one of my favorites. I have the navy in my normal size (I think small) and I found the cream on super sale in medium and still grabbed it. Totally works fine, so you're good if you have to go up or even down a size. They are sooo soft and comfortable, and look good open and belted. Definitely recommend!

  6. Thank you! I love the way you styled the amie maxi dress (striped) and I'm attempting to copy you :) If only I could look so good! Thanks for the input!
