j.crew review: ella dress in rambling rose (and an anthro sale).

Hello everyone,

Do you all know the song "Ramblin' Rose?"  Any time I hear it or think of it, it gets stuck in my head for ages. Which is actually fine with me, as it's a lovely, nostalgic song. I have hazy happy memories of it playing quietly at my grandparents' house when I was a kid, on a small radio in their kitchen. Nat King Cole sings it beautifully in his version:

Ella Dress in Rambling Rose -- This is another Ella Dress (medallion print review here), and I really like the silhouette for a party or wedding. It is made in cotton/modal, has a nice length, fits nicely (TTS), and has pockets. There is that interior corset and boning that they do in their strapless dresses that I appreciate. The print of this one is pretty, if nothing exceptionally special.

ETA: Lots of markdowns at Anthro today, including some of my favorites:

-- the adorable Honeyed Life Shirtdress and Twill Honeybee Blazer (which both look better IRL to me)

-- Chie Mihara's Jujube Heels

-- Butter's Wainscott Heels

Are you getting anything from this sale?

Have a lovely day!

  1. Oooh, I love the honeybee blazer. Thanks for the heads up that it is on sale now. Will have to trek over to Anthro at lunchtime and take a peek. Have you tried it & if so, is it TTS?

    1. I haven't tried it on, but it seems to be running pretty TTS for most people, based on the reviews. Let me know if you pick it up!

    2. Not a single honeybee blazer in the store! Boo. I was really hoping to see it in person.

  2. Cute dress! Would look perfect with a very cropped blazer or a shrug.

Nothing for me from this sale.

    1. Definitely would be cute with a cropped blazer or sweater to make it more every-day style. (The Jenna cardigan is perfect for dresses.)

    1. Isn't is cute? I'm going to play around with it and see if I feel it's too cute, so we'll see. Let me know if you see it IRL.

    2. I got it. It's not too cutesy to me. No pics at the moment. I need a photographer. A free one. lol

  4. I tried the Honeybee...TTS but a bit "cutesy"...I finally bit on the pink cottage blouse...still expensive but so unique and beautiful...that runs a big big I think. I am normally a 4 or 6 and I went with the 4. Love your blog!

    1. Thanks! I can see how it could be a little cutesy, but I think if it's styled right, it can work. I'll do some stying sets for it when I get and review it! Love that cottage blouse too -- great choice.
