L.L. Bean Signature is an interesting line. It's definitely has a 70's vibe going a lot of the time, but there are always a few standout pieces. I love L.L. Bean's customer service, and that they offer free shipping, no minimum...all the time. So I thought I'd peek at their spring pieces and share my favorites.
Poplin Dress, stripe -- I bet you guys could call this pick. How cute is this? Reviews note that the skirt is really full, so it's mostly likely only party-dress appropriate. Love it though. 100% cotton, machine washable.
Linscott Dress, print -- I really don't like it how they styled it with that yellow tee under it, but worn as a straight sundress, it's very cute.
Cotton Madras Dress -- Likely many people won't like the brown colorway, as it doesn't follow suit with all the expected brights of spring and summer (although the plaid colors are actually kinda bright). But I like that. It would also be a great transition dress, when you're sick of summer clothes and ready for a fall vibe, but the weather isn't cooperating. Worry not though, it does come in another really pretty orange-y red and teal green mix that is much brighter and summery. ;)
Stacked Reptile Wedge -- Love! This baby is high, but you want some height, wedges are waay easier to walk in.
Canvas Leather Hobo Bag -- I was very into the leather/flannel wool mix this past fall/winter. The summer version of my obsession is canvas and leather. It's nothing new and you can find it all over (I picked something similar up from a Land's End Inlet last fall for cheap.), but this is a cute version and you know the quality is there.
Bow Pump -- If anyone is looking for a perfect navy pump (like me), here's possible contender. Leather upper, leather lining, walkable heel, doable price ($159).
Suede Heel Sandal -- I love the fun saffron/navy combo, but the neutral one is fab too. It's tall (wish there was a touch of platform, or a little less height), but that suede looks sooo soft and comfy.
What do you think of L.L. Bean's Signature line?
p.s. Kate Spade sample sale is happening online. Always lots of goodies, but they go fast.

Hi M,
ReplyDeleteI was looking at Signature this morning too! I'm not buying anything from them this summer, NO summer dresses, but the items I have purchased I really like (my wool camel suiting pieces and a few of their winter dresses).
I love that last shoe with the saffron/navy, so pretty but you're right they look very high!
AND speaking of Kate Spade I bought some green glass earrings from her line when I was in Florida, they are perfect with the green Madeline dress which I love!! I definitely know what I'm wearing on St. Paddy's day. ;)
The dresses are adorable, and that free shipping is really tempting. I recently got the regular llbean striped sailor top, it was 29 dollars, no shipping charge, and because it was coming to NH, no tax! It was a pleasure doing business with them ;)
ReplyDeleteDani -- No summer dresses! The horror! lol, I kid. I'm pretty full up and am going to be doing a good editing of my spring/summer wardrobe soon. Doesn't that shoe look so pretty? But yes, too high for me. Ooh, the green earrings sound sooo pretty with the Madeline!
ReplyDeleteSue -- They are very cute, and I love that they offer the free shipping option. Nice about the no tax for NH too! It really is a wonderful company.
I honestly hadn't looked at them since they first came out but I need to revisit them! The striped dress is adorable!
ReplyDeleteThat last shoe is sexy. Of course the stripe dress is really cute. Way to reel us in ;)
ReplyDeleteLisa -- I haven't tried them out in a while, but I have loved DaniBP's reviews, and have been temped. isn't that dress cute?
ReplyDeleteGigi -- Stripesick indeed. :)
I bought the madras dress in brown and I really like it. I kind of wish it hard short sleeves, cause I'm always gonna wear them rolled up, but that's a minor complaint. I actually love the brown colour - it has a nice seventies vibe.
ReplyDeleteBTW, love your blog.
Thanks! So glad to hear you like the dress. It looks adorable. I know what you mean about the short sleeves, but I bet it would be great to have the long sleeves in cooler fall with boots!
DeleteM, I love the linscott dress and am going to order from LL Bean for the first time ever, thanks for reviewing it! Can you give me any advice on their sizing for the signature line? Is it similar to J. Crew or Land's End Canvas (which I consider to be more generous than J Crew)? Or Land's End, which is most generous of all? Thanks so much for any advice!
ReplyDeleteOh yay, please let me know how you like it! It looks gorgoues. I only have one blouse and I went with my J.Crew size and that worked for me. I do think they cute slimmer than their regular line. Perhaps you could send a quick note to DaniBP, as she has a couple dresses from them and might have a better sense for the Linscott? Also, their CS reps have been lovely in my experience and I'm sure could give you exact measurements and a better idea for what wil work. I wish I could be more helpful! Can't wait to hear what you think!
