Today I have a review of the Jules Waterfloral dress, which is a final sale item, just in case you were thinking of ordering, but haven't seen it/tried it on. Juliestyles did a great written review of the dress here, but I haven't seen IRL pics of this elsewhere yet. (Let me know if you have!)
I love this coral-y pink color, and I'm a fan of the Jules dress silhouette this year. It's definitely hit or miss for everyone it seems, and sometimes it's the material that makes it work (or not). There have been iterations in lightweight wool (Jules Dress) silk (Ashbury Floral), and rayon (Wildcat and Fanfare). The Waterfloral version is 100% cotton, with a 100% cotton lining, and is Collection.
First, the color, which is called Glamour Pink. It's a coral-y pink, but doesn't match up with many of the pinks from this or past seasons, at least in my closet. The closest is the coral of the recent Palm Springs necklace, and it does meld well with the tones of the Madras Popover from last year (factory version). I love the colors! It looks quite close to the online pic. So spring/summery and pretty, whithout being too pink or orange-y. Most of you know that I'm a sucker for pretty much all versions of pink.
The material is a nice, thick-ish woven cotton. You can see the texture in the below pics prety well. Might be a little heavy for mid-summer, but it's breathable cotton (and short), so it could work. (I'll have to report back.) I noticed after a while of trying on things that the sleeves did get wrinkly, which was not unexpected. The cotton lining is nice and light and appreciated. Covered back zip makes it easy to get in and out of the garment.
I went with a size 4, knowing a 2 would be way too short. This was the right call for me. It would be lovely to have the waist nipped in a bit, but I get that this straight shift is the look. It's short, I'll not lie, but I don't think it's ridiculous. Of course, that depends on your height! I'm 5'5", so any taller, and you'll be in trouble methinks. I probably wouldn't wear this if I had to get my son in and out of his carseat, unless I was wearing j/leggings (which look cute with it btw! See below.) I would wear it out and about shopping, or out for a fun dinner, and not worry about the length. That said, there's just about 2 inches of hem that could be let out, which I may look into.
I liked the dress paired with my patent Valentinas (I finally get the love), as well as with ballet flats, my Bed-Stu loafers, and with jeggings and boots. If I had my jean jacket out of storage, I'd like it worn with the dress. The round neckline would work nicely with a thin chambray or cotton button-down shirt as well.
Lots of pics:
A peek at the pretty Valentinas, which I now want in every color. ;)
Overall, I love it and know it will be a piece I reach for a lot this spring.
What do you think of the Waterfloral version? Are you a Jules fan?

I love it on you!
ReplyDeleteI think the colors are so pretty, those are my favorite shades for summer.
Aren't the Valentina's great? I know, I want them in every color too. I have the leopard that you are wearing and the coral, so pretty!
That dress looks wonderful on you! I think it would be just a little short for me, but the color is gorgeous. Thanks for the review.
ReplyDeleteThis dress looks so cute on you! So sad it's too short for me but I have the skirt in waterfloral and I love it!!! Thanks for the review!
ReplyDeleteLove it! Very, very cute! It's too short for me, & although it's very cute with the jeggings & boots, I'd want to be able to wear it alone too. You're fortunate to be at a height where you can make it work. :)
ReplyDeleteI love this dress on you--so cute. I prefer skirts, so I have not even tried the Jules on. But the shoes--love them!! I too just purchased them (wearing them today in fact) and now understand all the love out there for them. The perfect shoe!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this dress on you; it's super, super cute!!!
ReplyDeleteWould love it 2 inches longer. Sigh. It's very pretty!
ReplyDeleteThis dress looks so pretty on you! It's a great color for you!
ReplyDeleteGreat dress on you!! Such a classic silhouette...you will be able to enjoy it for years! A little too short for my taller height, but I am thinking about that 2" hem now, wondering if that would be enough to make it work. Thanks for the review!
ReplyDeleteI wish it were just a tad longer. Otherwise I LOVE it!!!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful sense of style and very nice blog! Congratulations on your work!
