a leopard-print satchel.

Hello everyone!

I ordered the Talbot's calfhair leopard satchel when it dropped to a super low price. I think it's really nice, especially on sale. It's currently showing as sold out online, but does keep popping back and may still be in store, so I thought I'd still share. My only issue with it is that the handles aren't long enough to put over my shoulder. I can't decide if that's a dealbreaker.

Front with flap closed (snaps):

Front flap open:

Back of bag (tagged, b/c if they don't have it in warehouse stock, they ship it from the closest store):
Bottom of bag. Would have be awesome if they had added studs to the bottom for when it sits on the floor.

Inside is plain cotton. One side has a big zippered section, the other has a cell phone and lipstick (?) pocket.

I'd have to hold it just over my arm, which I don't mind too much. I'd likely not be using this one when carting around my 4-year-old anyway.

What do you think?

They also have the Haircalf Tote on sale if you're looking for something bigger.

I personally have been drooling over the J.Crew Edie forever and have thought that perhaps I just need to save for that one. Oh, and the new Attache bag is gorgeous, but dayum, it is pricey.

Here are some other options if you're in the market:

Banana Republic Mad Men Satchel

Steve Madden Pony Up Satchel

BCBG Max Azria Sophia Flap Clutch

Bag Snob for DKNY

Marni

Sandro

Have a great day!

  1. The short handles would be a deal breaker for me. I love it otherwise! But I need the ability to put a bag on my shoulder if need be, unless it's a clutch or something.

  2. It's a cute bag. The print looks quite similar to the BCBG one. I like the print on the J.Crew version better, it's a bit more realistic KWIM? I don't wear a lot of animal print so I would go for something that I really love and would look good for years, sort of a classic.

  3. The Talbots bag is cute, but I think the Edie is more "you." :D I'd save my pennies for that one. It is so beautiful!

  4. I only buy bags with short handles! To each his own:) Cute bag IMO:)

FYI: Better for your back/shoulders/neck etc. not to have a strap around your shoulder and carry the bag close to your body.

  5. Thanks everyone for your thoughts and comments! I agree that it's definitely better on your back to go with short handles, but I worry that I won't grab for it enough because of that. I think the Edie is perhaps what I'll just have to save my pennies for...although that navy Tillary is calling my name first perhaps...ack.
