jcrew reviews: dolores dress in peacock paisley & yellow retail dress.

Hi everyone!

I was hosting a big event last night, so had to take day off yesterday to clean my house. Even after too much wine, I don't feel too badly this morning, so that's a win. :)  Totally missed the OURTREAT extra 30% off promo restock yesterday at J.Crew though. Did you all score any good popbacks? Ah well, my wishlist is pretty much all spring stuff anyway. :)  ETA: Update this morning, with some newer pieces on sale now (Fanfare popover, Schoolboy in Morse Jacquard)

Speaking of new, here are two more new arrivals at JC:

Retail-only (so far) yellow dress -- This was so cute, in cotton...but man, it's just short. Now, I could maybe do this for a wedding, but I just wish there was an extra inch. Word on the street is that this might come out in pink. Eeeee!  Although I love this cheery yellow shade.  Pockets!  Boo for poly lining. Exposed zip in back. The size 4 worked out.  (Some other cute online options for yellow dresses here, here, and here.)

Dolores Dress in Peacock Paisley - Very cute little dress. I think they did this silhouette last year, didn't they? Didn't give me the feeling, but I think lots of you could rock it.  It had a poly lining as well I believe. Size 4. Short.

Hoping for a fun sale re-stock, as I love to race through and see what's popped back. Is that strange? Probably.  I really, really wish they'd have offered free shipping though!

  1. The yellow dress is really nice on you. Pink would be pretty too but boo on the exposed zipper. I was considering the Dolores dress so I'm glad you posted a review. It is cute but I'm just not sure about the shape of the skirt. I think it may be too much volume in my usual size.

  2. The Dolores dress seemed shorter on me that it is on you. I did not like it but it is sure cute on you. I think that just being smaller size really helps here. I saw the yellow dress but dismissed it completely because it looked too short, too high waisted and too yellow. If they had your picture next too it I would have probably taken it to the fitting room :)

  3. Love both of these dresses, super cute! I have officially sworn off shopping for lent, so I have been avoiding looking at their website recently. It's going to be tough! Good news, is I have a birthday this month so while I won't be doing any shopping, other people will, with my recommendations of course :-)

  4. love the yellow dress on you! I would love it even more in pink. :)

The Dolores is pretty too, and it works on you.

  5. The yellow dress is a beauty! I love the classic fitted-bodice-into-a tulip skirt silhouette. It looks gorgeous on you. It does have a 2-inch hem you can let out for a little more length, so don't be deterred. I saw it in-store yesterday and just could not resist it.

BTW, does the green Madelene have a similar fit in the bust, waist and shoulders? I went looking for that dress after seeing your review post, but sadly my store didn't have it.

  6. xoxo -- I was bummed a little about the zipper, but maybe I'm getting used to them. The Dolores is cute, but I'm not sure where I'd wear it.

ajc -- lol! I could tell right away it was super short too, but I die over that fun bright color, so had to try it.

Jennifer -- That's a good thing to give up -- stay strong! I should have done that too, but it seems I'm going in the opposite direction...

    Amy -- I know, pink!! Thanks. :)

  7. Lovely on you - but way too short for me :(

  8. I love both dresses on you, but have to agree that I would prefer an extra inch or two. I have enough frocks that are mid-thigh, and would really like more knee-length options.

Great reviews, hope all is well!!!

  9. I am loving the yellow dress! It looks really cute on you! I tried it on last week and love how it fit me and I love the color, zipper and pockets. It is a little short, but like Allegra808 said, it has a wider hem so should be easy to lengthen. At $148 and because I'm not sure how often I will wear it, I'm trying to wait for a sale, BUT it seems like it's selling quickly! My closer store had about 6 or so last week and then when I went back they had 2 left and one was on a mannequin (it was my size, so I hope it stays there!). I'm kinda surprised there are that many people buying it at FP. Hoping it shows up online because that might be my only chance to get it on sale!

  10. Oh I love the yellow dress but at my age I need three inches on it.

  11. Busy Phillips was wearing a very similiar dress on Cougar Town this week. She wore it with a faded jean jacket that had elbow length sleeves. Made me wish I lived in Florida! It was so cute! I need to track down the jacket too because it was darling. The dress definitely won't work on me though if you thought it was short. I think I have at least 4 inches on you. ;-)

Hope you have a great weekend!
