During the recent promo madness, I had to pick up the Palm Springs Beaded Necklace. I saw it in store, and thought it was so adorable, with the pretty coral/peach/tangerine beads and navy brooch. Such a pretty color combo and one that I foresee being one of my "color stories" (a la DaniBP!) for spring.
Very reminiscent of past J.Crew necklaces, no?
I have several of the older jewelry pieces, and straight off, this one is not exactly on par. It's lighter in weight, both the beads and the "gold" they've used. (Ugh, hating this new lightweight metal they're using -- it's not going to hold up forever.) Honestly, that's not surprising me anymore. However, I do very much appreciate that they're working their way back to some of the fun and unique pieces I've always loved about JC. It's very cute for sure. It's easily worn two ways, long and doubled-up, which I love.
Here are some pictures of the necklace, which I've set next to the old-school Primrose Garden bracelet and the current Factory Critter Bracelet (this colorway seems to be sold out). They're both a pretty close match. (p.s. the bracelet is cute, but very lightweight and probably not worth any more than what I paid, which was 40% off of retail.) I'm wearing my new cashmere tee from the big Land's End Canvas sale before Christmas, when it was around $36ish I think? It's a fabulous color and goes perfectly with the necklace.
The $98 price point is too steep for what it's worth. Luckily, it came out just as the stores were having a 30% off jewelry promo, which stacked with the 30% off CHEER promo. $48 is a much more reasonable price, albeit still high for a piece of costume jewelry. That said, it's just too cute, and I've already thought of about 20 ways I'll be wearing this one. Here are some of my ideas:
