talbots new reviews!

Hello everyone!

Sorry I've been so MIA again! I've been up at my parents' and my camera battery died...and of course, I forgot the charger! Ack.  Plus, you know, it's nice to relax and spend some QT with the P's. :)

However, I did have a chance to spend some time at Talbots, trying on various items, during my big mall adventure the other day!  I had a very nice experience at this store, with a lovely and engaged SA who was very excited to see the pieces on someone.  Currently, they are offering 20% off your entire order, WITH free shipping (take that other retailer who shall not be named!), with code BLOOM.

Grace Fit Metallic Bridge Tweed Jacket ($189) -- I loved the yellow. Channeling that Chanel vibe, with pretty buttons (kinda wish they didn't have a T on them, though it's not really noticeable or a deal-breaker) and just a bit of metallic gold thread. I'd easily wear with just t-shirt and jeans. They only had a 2P to try, and the fit was fine for me, although I'd be better off in the regular 2. I tried it on with a cute tee that was just a little too short for me (size small).

I'm not normally a crewneck sweater type of gal, but this Beaded Floral Sweater just looked so delicate and pretty that I had to try it on. Yes, just as I thought, very pretty on as well!  The beading is very subtle. The $99 price point (and even $80 with the promo discount) is still too steep for me, but I loved it. Very cute with all their blazers (like the pink ruffle one on sale for half price currently). This is a size small, which was perfect.

Tuileries Swing Jacket ($189) -- Adore the skirt, so had to try the jacket. Love! The wooden buttons are a wonderful touch. The 2 worked, but I'd be fine with a 4 actually as well. I even tried a 6 and could have managed that -- it's just a workable shape. Gorgeous colors in this, just lovely.

Palais Floral Pencil Skirt ($99) -- Hooray for a black/gray printed pencil skirt! This would be so easily styled, dressed up and down. I can think of so many tops to go with this. If you got the 20% off card, I think it's worth that price. Cotton/rayon/spandex blend, so has a bit of stretch. I went with a 6, and could have maybe done a 4 b/c of the bit of stretch. I didn't feel the need to try the petite for a shorter length in this one. I tried it on with the Melange Flyaway Cardi in an XS, and didn't like it too much. It was really big and not that flattering. Turned the outfit matronly. If you're not into pencil skirts, they have a pretty cardi in the Palais pring as well.

Twinkle Linen Pleat Waist Skirt ($119) -- I like the pleating and shape of this skirt. The "twinkle" is very subtle, so it's easily worn for daytime. This is a 6, and felt a bit too big on me. I didn't have time to try on a 4.

Chalet Bouquet Flutter Dolman Tee ($42.50) -- Such a pretty purple! Very soft and comfortable and flattering. This was an XS I believe. (Hm, now I'm wondering if it was a small.)

Grace Fit Gathered Pocket Jacket ($99) -- Nice match with the above tee, but it was pretty big and shapeless. Pass for me.

Belle Flower Full Skirt (sale for $96.99) -- I swooned at this skirt in the catalog, so was excited to see it in person, and in a size that might possible work, a 4P. It did! So it must run a bit bigger than the pencil skirts, which seem to fit best for me in a 6 or 6p.  Anyway, it's just so, so pretty. The colors, the full skirt, the length, the wonderful fabric. I just felt like twirling around. Was fabulous with just a tee, and then so cute with the Grace Fit Double Breasted Faille Jacket (sale $150), which was also so lovely (check out the aqua color online!). The jacket is a luxurious faille fabric, with a nice weight and structure to it. With the promo 20% off, I think both pieces are a very reasonable sale price for the quality.

Until last year, I really hated shorts. I'm still working on loving them, but as they are practical with a toddler, it's nice to have some on hand. Therefore, I wanted to try on a pretty new pair with a sash, the Cross-Dyed shorts. The size 6 worked well.  I liked them -- the fit, shape and length, but couldn't figure out where I'd wear them, as they're too dressy for the park. ;)

What do you think of Tabots' newest offerings? Have you bought anything from them with the promo (or the recent super sale they had online?)

  9. Yes, I bought an elbow sleeve corsage tee a couple weeks ago on super clearance. I love it, especially because the scoop neck is not super-scooped. It's an orchid purple color.

  14. Get the shorts! They are adorable on you. We live in a beach town, so I can think of many places to wear them here. Shopping, out to eat, lunch with friends, kid's b'day party.

I'm not sure if it's because I'm getting older or Talbot's is getting younger, but I'm loving Talbot's new looks.
