reviews: tuxedo end-on-end dress & shearling fatigue jacket.

Hello everyone! Sorry for being MIA, it's just been a crazy weekend. I just got back from a Pump it Up birthday party and wow, that was exhausting! I thought hey, cool, my little guy will run around for hours and I can chat with the moms. I didn't figure in the times I had to go down the slides and jump in the bounce room with them.  So fun though, I have to say.  Wish they'd open those up for adults, KWIM?  Anyway, off point...

I tried on the Tuxedo End-on-End Dress ($78) the other day b/c it looked cute and simple on the hanger. It's a nice cotton weight, and I thought it was made nicely. I didn't love it on me though. They did only have a small, and I'm sure the XS would have fit me better. But I just felt like I couldn't pull the drawstring tight enough.  It felt a bit too young for me as well.

I also want to throw out a pic of me in the Shearling Fatigue Jacket that I picked up for $77ish with the 40% off. They are now at 50% off in store now, and I saw a number of them at both of my local stores. GREAT deal on this coat. I love everything about it. It's padded for more warmth than you'd expect (but not super warm). I love the drawstring tie on the inside. The collar is fabulous. It's just a great coat and well worth the sale price. I actually got a 0 in this, b/c they didn't have any 2's left, and it works for me. Probably can't wear a huge sweater under it in this size, but that's fine.

Have you seen the newest spring items? What do you think? I don't know, I'm not all that excited about much of them. I like the short-sleeve version of the Vintage Bateau, and a really pretty new green cashmere color, but nothing was making me drool.

  2. Jacket looks great on you! Which stores did you find the jacket and do you recall whether there were any more jackets in a size 0? Thanks!

Anon -- Thanks! I saw the jackets at both the Northbrook Ct and Old Orchard stores (in IL) on Saturday, but didn't check the sizes. Worth a call!

  4. I LOVE that jacket on you---it looks so cute! I have not been too wowed by J Crew so far for spring either...seems like the only place that I've been finding things I like here and there is Anthro lately. I hope that all my usual favorite stores start to pick it up a bit and start impressing a little more!

  5. Jenni -- Thanks! I agree, Anthro spring rollout has been more attractive to me so far. That's ok though, my wallet needs a rest. :)

  7. Excited at the prospects of the new Spring rollout, hopefully the items that have been reviewed so far are not representative of the rest of the collection. Thanks for the pics/reviews!

  8. Love the shearling jacket on you! You and Slastena are kinda making me want one...For comparison, what size do you wear in your Bella and/or Ecole?

We went to a really fun kid party in a trampoline place (don't know what else to call it!) You could jump as an adult, but you had to wear their gross shoes and as I am slightly germophobic about public shoes, I didn't jump. But it looked so fun :)
