land's end canvas sale reviews & pics.
If you haven't seen yet, Land's End Canvas just rolled out a bunch of winter items, and there are some really cute pieces, and lovely candy colors! Love the Sideways Cable Cardigan, the Popover Pattern Shirt, Pinwale Cord Shirt, Hooded Blazer and Plaid Wool Skirt. LOVE the black watch pattern! I also immediately ordered the Fairisle Convertible Gloves. The fall sale is still go with free ship and 20% off sale prices with code: CANVASPLUS20 PIN: 2050
Here are the sale items I received yesterday:
Pattern Poplin Shirt -- Ok, I love love the dots and the fabric and everything about the shirt. Except that it's So.Short. (I'm 5'5" for reference) This is a size small. I thought I had ordered and XS, but I guess I ordered the small. I'm so bummed out about the length. But then I was thinking that maybe I can still keep it just for the collar and sleeves rolled up outside a sweater. For $15 (with discount), it's not like I'm shelling out big bucks. What would you do? Here are pics:
Argyle Cardigan -- I got the XS in this, and it actually seems to run a bit short as well. Not terribly so, but it's a bit short for my taste. I like the argyle pattern, and I loved the price ($15 with discount), but I think it has to go back, sadness.
Horn Cuff -- No picture, but it looks like it does online in the second picture -- note that they all vary in coloration. Mine is ligher than the first picture. Love it, very simple and neutral. A nice option instead of bling or a metal bracelet.
A few other sale notes:
* Hooray, Anthropologie is offering free shipping on all orders $150+ now through December 23rd!! Wish it was a bit lower minimum, but beggars can't be choosers and it's still an awesome little deal. There are sooo many things on my wishlist with the latest pieces. Check out the party frocks, the Pinafore Pullover, the Gust of Grey Blouse, and two statement coats, Le Soir Magnifique Coat and the Andrick Coat.
* Talbot's $25 deal (off $125 with code 25OFF) ends Monday.
* L.L. Bean is offering a $10 giftcard when you buy $50 worth of merch.
* I was in Abercrombie the other day (gah, the headache), and they were already playing holiday music. Ay yi yi. ;)
Happy Saturday!!

several j.crew reviews/pics.
I had a lovely opportunity to hit the mall while my DH worked from home yesterday afternoon, while the nugget napped. I was in search of Pillow Pets, but obviously I had to pop into J.Crew and peruse new items and sale racks. :)
First, I wanted to try on the Colletta for size. This is a size 4 and I thought it fit quite nicely, with room for a sweater underneath. It's so pretty and flattering, love. They only had sea salt, black and dark plum (which I thought was a bit sad-looking), so that was a bummer. I will hopefully be able to get this at a nice discount late/end of season (pretty please?).
I wandered around the new pieces, and honestly, wasn't really moved to try on anything. They seemed to be depleted of most of their cashmere. Oh, and I saw the Wool Bell Skirt in henna, and thought the color was really lovely. Only one left and not my size, so I didn't try it on. So...I headed to the sale racks. Wow, there was a LOT of stuff back there. (shock)
First, I've been debating ordering the Dream Open Shawl-Collar Cardigan, which came down to $70 in all colors yesterday. I found the warm stone and warm pewter and loved them. Very soft and super cozy, and I thought the collar was really sharp-looking. I'm a sucker for cozy sweaters. The pewter was a nice blue-gray (which I don't need), but I really wanted to take home the warm stone. Loved. I know many are wary of the Dream fabric, so perhaps you could wait for a further discount (although there weren't many left). The warm stone pic is a size small and the pewter is an XS. I think I'd go with small actually, so the sleeves aren't so tight.
Underneath that cardigan is the light pink Coralie Cami (is this the natural color? It seems definitely pink to me, although looks ivory in the pics.), which was $29.99 in store. Pretty, pretty. The Coralie was a winner this year.
There was one Starry Donegal Tweed Skirt in a 6 left on the rack for $80, so I gave it a whirl. A nice basic, but a little too business-y feeling to me. It was nice and soft though.
The Goldenrod Brocade Top was on sale for *I think* $80 (I forgot to take a pic), but is still FP online. I wanted to like this more, but it seemed like the lining was bunching weirdly underneath. I get what they were doing though with it. This was a 4.
The Silk and Sequin Scoopneck Tee in sweet almond was down to $50 (online it's $90 for sweet almond and plum, and $60 for olive -- weird), which I think is a great price for this tee. It's so, so pretty! I hadn't tried it on before at the higher price point(s). This is a size small, which was a bit big (but still could work I think), and at the last second my PS found an XS hiding somewhere, but I didn't have a chance to try it on. (I do not know WTH I was doing with my hand in that second picture. Also it looks poochy, but wasn't actually doing that, so must have just been my weird posing, huh.) I think I might have to get this one after getting input from my DH. Er, and the dream sweater, b/c don't they look cute together?
I have the Cord Atlee Skirt in other colors, and still was pining for the original buff sand color. Even though it was a bit wrinkled, it was down to $19.99 and I took that baby home (note it's $49.50 online still). As I've noted before, I size up in this, so I can wear it low on my waist and get some length. This is an 8.
I also saw the Sequin Pencil Skirt for $30 in several sizes, and honestly, didn't even try them on b/c I couldn't get them all unlatched from each other. So annoying, and I think they were probably all snagged up. Really, they should come up with some kind of overlay for displaying these things. (I also saw a sequin top placed right next to the lace tee and saw the sequins snagging it -- I mean, honestly. Duh.)
Overall, it was a nice trip to La Crew and I got a couple fun things. Of course I still haven't received my Rewards card yet, so I'm patiently waiting for that baby.
Note there are some new additions to the Factory site!
Have a great day!

I saw the Double-Cloth Dollop Coat ($325.00) in bronzed twig and just tried it on for fun. I was surprised that I liked it. It has a great retro vibe.

j.crew (blue) sunnie & moss tweed pencil skirt with pics!
Morning ladies! I was able to hit J.Crew yesterday for a short bit. I wanted to try on lots of things, but my little one was having none of it. So I tried on two skirts, the Moss Tweed that I've been hoping to find (one left in my size!) and the Sunnie (I think) Pencil Skirt in the blue colorway that is currently in-store only. They did not have the yellow version in-store.
You guys, I love the blue colorway of the Sunnie skirt. I heard descriptions of it and didn't think I'd like it at all, but in person, it's a different story. Sort of pastel-y feeling, with a nice tight weave. It has shades of almost periwinkle blue, purple, apple-y green, yellow and burgundy, and seems like it would go with a million different colors on top. I tried on the size 4 and felt it fit perfectly. I think it would be a new and different addition to my lovely pencil skirt collection. I still think I'll like the yellow version, but this one is getting prioritized since I already have two yellow pencil skirts. :)
(My son is playing trains in the background of that one, in case you were wondering.)
Next, I tried on the Moss Tweed pencil skirt in a size 4 as well. Love the colors in it and I thought it fit well (looks nice in the pic). That said, it has a bit of stretch to it, which for some reason kinda accented my tummy area. I think I like a thicker, more structured skirt. The other issue is that it is a looser tweed weave that I feel might get really fuzzed up. Not like the nice tight, thicker weave of the perfect pencil skirts and the Sunnie skirt. Does that make sense? I could be wrong, but at that price, I'm not chancing it getting fuzzy on me. I still like the skirt, but would only get it at a good sale price.
What do you think? Have any of you bought one of the above skirts?

old navy: my 50% off coat and clearance score.
Morning ladies! I ran over to Old Navy yesterday to check out the coats with my 50% off coupon. (Online code: OUTER50 at checkout. ONSUPER50 gives free shipping on $50+) I had already ordered two coats online, just in case they didn't have my size in store.
Imagine my happy surprise to see the Ruffle-Collar Wool-Blend Jacket priced at only $50! It was priced full-price, $69.50, online this morning when I ordered the purple and the gray colors. So I grabbed the black one (the only color left in my size) for only $25. (Ok, and after reading some boards, I've heard that a lot of people were rung up only with full price + 50% off) I took a picture, but I don't feel like it shows it very well, b/c my arm is up holding the camera, so makes it tent out a bit. I am usually not an empire waist fan, but with the size small, I felt it didn't look maternity on me. Love the collar and the buttons. It will get lint-y for sure, but no big whoop.

I also scored some huge deals in the toddler section for my son and a couple tees for my husband (men's and toddler clearance was 50% off). Then I ran out of time and couldn't try on any newer arrivals.
I love how I went in for the coat and came out with two bags (uner $80 total!). Ah, sometimes I just love Old Navy. Have you come across any great ON finds? Did you get a coat with this nice deal?

Then I perused the clearance section, and tried on the Cord Mini (not online anymore) in a size 8, hoping for a bit more length and the ability to wear around my hips. Looked soo short on the hanger, so I didn't have much hope. But when I tried it on, I decided I could probably get away with it with some tights and boots (er, not these rain boots.) Um, it was a grand total of $5.13 for this skirt, b/c I got an extra 10% off for using my Gap card on Tuesdays! How cute is it with my olive vintage bateau from J.Crew? You can also see two lovely necklaces in a red/yellow colorway and a blue/green colorway. They were priced at $6.99 - 40% - 10% = $3.77 or so. Um, yes, please.

my new wishlist.
I know, I know, I JUST got a huge haul from J.Crew, so I have no business still lusting for things. But that's like telling my son he can't want any more Thomas the trains. Not happening. So here are the pieces I'm hoping will still be there, come sale time, when I'm not over-budget for the month!
J.Crew's Double-Cloth Colleta Coat -- Oh I just love the lady-like lines of this coat, and the stand-up collar. I'm loving the blues, leaning toward the Nightfall Blue.
J.Crew's Sunnie Pencil Skirt -- This is backordered, and I haven't seen it in person, but based on the pics, I'm loving the colors and texture. We all know I have a pencil skirt thing, so this should be no surprise.
Northern Lights Necklace -- gah, I keep waiting for a discount, and am worried they'll sell out before it goes to sale. Maybe with a Rewards card? ETA: YAYAY! Went down to $50 today (Wed) and I snagged it!!
Anthropologie's Refined Cord Shirtdress in the pretty red color. I just can't get myself to pay $128 for it even though I really love it. I already splurged on the Safekeeping Capelet, so need to just back away slowly.
There should be another winter rollout from J.Crew around the corner I'm sure, so my list will continue to grow... What's on your wishlist?
p.s. Piperlime today is offering a $25 gift certificate toward your next purchase with any order placed today!! Check out the Kate Spade and Hive and Honey jewelry.
p.p.s. Today is Old Navy's outerwear special -- 50% off any one piece of outerwear with code OUTER50. I got the ruffle collar coat in the purple! Oh, and if you got any rewards, it let me combine it (although I did order a pair of pants for my son too, so I'm not sure if that had anything to do with it.)
Have a wonderful day! ETA: The Ruffle-Collar coat is only $50 in store, so it comes to only $25!! They also gave an extra 10% off my purchase for using my Gap card on Tuesday -- but this did not combine with the coat deal (they rang it up separately). I scored a bunch of toddler clothes on clearance (toddler/men's clearance is extra 50%, women's extra 40%).

land's end canvas fall sale.
Just a quick blip to tell you to check out Land's End Canvas fall sale -- it looks like they lowered prices on various items. Some are a score! Use code: LADIES and pin: 1921 to get $10 off $50+ and free shipping.
I couldn't resist these (together coming to a grand total of $80!) -- Horn Cuff, Plaid Shirtdress, Pattern Poplin Shirt and Argyle Cardigan.
I couldn't resist these (together coming to a grand total of $80!) -- Horn Cuff, Plaid Shirtdress, Pattern Poplin Shirt and Argyle Cardigan.
j.crew 20% off all sweaters.
Ok, well, no, it's not an awesome deal like the 30% off from a few weeks ago, but if you missed out on that one, here's your chance to get some newer sweaters with a 20% off discount. Alas, no free shipping, which kind of kills it for me online. Thank you to a reader that pointed out we can use code YQC83N for free shipping on $100+! These are the sweaters I'm eyeing:
Dream Zip Henley ($78.40) -- In the heirloom pink color.
Dream Open-Shawl-Collar Cardigan (navy and heather espresso are $70 and warm stone and pewter are $94.90) -- Rats b/c I like the warm stone the best, but also like the $70 ones. These first two picks are similar -- which would you choose?
Cambridge cable shawl-collar cardigan (most are $70.40, gray is $60). Love the heather nordic blue for a pop of color.
Arrow Sweater Jacket (black is $80, the others -- caramel!! -- are $110) -- Gah, one of these days I'll get you, heather caramel. Pics of me in heather elm and black.
Alexie is down to $55.60! Not a bad price for some pretty colors, like this plum orchid.
Dream Turtleneck Sweater is only $54.40 -- I might have to cave and get one at this price. They're the perfect item to throw on with a pencil skirt and be completely pulled together (and comfy/cozy).
Infinity Cardigan ($40, $60 and $71.50) -- These are definitely hit or miss on people, depending on their height I think. They are longggggg. Perfect though over those pants (or leggings) that you need a rear cover. I love my black pine -- here's a pic.
Plaid Boyfriend Cardigan ($60) -- I love this sweater! I've been wearing it under the Marled Thandie Blazer and love it! Like the Arrow sweater, one of the better quality pieces J.Crew has had this fall. IRL pics.
If you don't want to do their cashmere, the Dream V-Neck Cardigan is $62.40 or less in all colors.
Jackie Cardigans in new colors are $49.50, and are a classic. I'd love to get the Henna color -- has anyone seen in person?
A number of the cashmere sweaters are at the $100 price point -- turtleneck, Cody, zip cardi, crewneck cardi, etc. I like to get their cashmere for a bit less, but this isn't too ridiculous for a special color you love or for a staple you'll wear a ton.
Anyone going to bite? I can't get to the store until tomorrow, so we'll see.

j.crew cotton-wool ruffle dress.
Morning ladies! Below are some pictures of the J.Crew Cotton-Wool Ruffle Dress I picked up on sale (for about $55 after discount). I never saw it in store, and I didn't see much about it in blog-ville -- likely b/c most of you are probably a bit over ruffles. (Say it isn't so!) It was a bit of a risk since it was final sale, I still felt pretty confident about liking it. Let's face it, I still like ruffles. I really like my pullover, especially b/c it's crazy soft and cozy.
Love it! Hooray! The dress only came in charcoal, which is fine by me, although I might have loved it even more in the heather elm. It feels just like the sweater -- super soft. I'm not gonna lie, it's short, so it will require some nice thick tights and boots so I don't feel over-exposed. I also think I'd wear it with leggings or skinnies as a tunic, as a more wearable every-day look. But I think it's adorable, with and without a belt, with and without a sweater or jacket over it. So cute for date night! DH saw it and said, "Wow, that's cute!" so there's at least one fan. :)
(The belt I'm wearing is from Gap that I got on super clearance earlier this year, so not available any more. It's a great shade of greige with dark gray and brown accents. My boots are Vera Wang Lavender Label "Sheila," which I don't see online any more. I got them at Nordstrom Rack recently.)
What do you think? Love it or hate it? (Don't worry, you won't hurt my feelings. :)

j.crew sale goodies arrive...pics!
Whew, ladies, I worked HARD yesterday, cleaning my house top to bottom, for a visit from my mom and her BFF on Monday. I'm heading up to my parents' this weekend to celebrate mom's bday, so I had to get it done ahead of time.
But yay for me that I received all my J.Crew sale goodies before I left!! I was concered about a few items, but in the end, love everything! Here are some of the goodies:
First up, I snagged the black Arrow Sweater for only $55 (this color is sold out online), and am really happy I did. Yes, I have other black cardigans, and black jackets, but nothing like this heavy sweater. It can obviously be worn as a sweater coat, but I will likely wear it kind of as a blazer (Then I'd use a down vest over it in true cold). This is an XS. Gah, I couldn't get a good picture of it, so it looks a bit frump here, but it's very nice in person. Fingers crossed the caramel color goes this low in price. :)
I have the natural Ciel Etoile Cardigan, and couldn't pass up the black for only $35. I think it's an item that will get a lot of use through the years. This is a size small.
Next, I picked up the Factory Flannel Perfect Shirt in dusty blossom (came to about $35) as kind-of-a-maybe item. (It wasn't final sale, so no biggie) I am super happy with it and definitely recommend it! Love the color, it's really soft, and it goes with a lot of pieces in my closet (perfect match to my v-neck cashmere cardi, melds well with all the warm taupes and bronzed clays and naturals they've been doing. It's paired below with the Cord Pencil Skirt I got in Shadow. I got a 4 in this one, and am glad I did. It fits perfectly (a 2 would have been too tight) and is a great dark gray neutral.
We're all a bit sick of the tees, but I grabbed this Brushed Shimmer tee b/c it looked like a great layer with a lot of the grays, silvers and pinks in my wardrobe. It's the "natural" color, which is really almost a bit of pink -- much like the Ciel Etoile natural. Definitely a great pick-up for $10!
Stay tuned tomorrow for the Cotton-Wool Ruffle Dress! Happy Friday everyone!
ETA Deal Alert: If you have a Gap card, take 40% off "Hot Trends" (in the left-hand menu) at Old Navy using code ONTRENDS. I just picked up this striped boat neck tee for $6 (looks like J.Crew's, minus the sequins). Other codes: ONTREAT (15% off) and ONSUPER50 (free shipping).
