First off, my DH wanted to go to the mall to look at J.Crew this morning. Um, huh? Those words rarely are heard around these parts. But I'm not one to look a gift horse in the mouth, plus I had some returns to make. (Silk cargo dress - boo. Got a 4 and 6, and both were so very short, and not that flattering. Bazaar tunic - I had hoped the 6 could work, but no, too big.) I had a chance to see all the fall items that I missed on my first pass the day they came out. Nothing screamed at me, except maybe the dressier khaki Minnies.
We went to see the sad remnants of the sale section, and magically, they had one pair of the Natalia Dip-Dyed Leather flats in the tan/rose color in my size. While they are priced online at $90 (*rolls eyes*), I scored them for...$17.99!!! What the what? Even my hubbie had to marvel at my luck. I snatched up one melon perfect-fit tee for $8.99 and a matching belt for $8.99, and was happy.
We headed out to lunch and back home to put kiddo to sleep, and I headed out to Anthro to make some returns and pick up The Letter Mug as a gift to sis-in-law. Obviously, I was required to try on new(ish) arrivals, was I not? Alas, I didn't have my camera, so only have pictures of the 2 items I bought.
I first tried on the Lady's Choice Cardigan. My store didn't have the tan, so I tried on the purpley/pink one. Gah, I loved this sweater. It's not for everyone, but it literally made me feel like a pretty little lady. It's a bit itchy, but I can deal with that. I'm undecided if the tan would be more practical, but the pinky one just seems like it might be a little more special. A pic:
Next up, Raining, Pouring Blouse. Ok, this is so not what I usually go for, but I tried it on and fell in love with it. It has leaves falling, and hats and umbrellas tossing around. It's charming. I tried on the 4, thinking I wouldn't go for it, but I needed it. NEEDED it, I tell you! (she justifies to herself). It's really spendy, at $98 (gulp), but I have a feeling this is going to be one of those tops I'll keep reaching for, b/c it makes you smile. It's fairly sheer, so you need a cami underneath this one.
Next, I tried on the Violet Gloaming Dress. This really captured my eye in the catalog, and just is so different and pretty. At a steep $248, it's not in my budget, but I had to try it out to satisfy my curiosity. It's very lovely in person, but on me, I just felt it looked...not right. The top part, maybe the sleeves, made me look a bit to little-girlish. Anyway, at that price, I had better feel like $12 million bucks, so it's a no.
I also picked up the Breccia Necklace in pink b/c I seem to have acquired quite a bit of this color in my closet, so it will be worn well. $20 isn't a bad price either.
And while I was typing this up, I just saw the Monologue top. Wow, I so want that. A long-sleeved version of the Chantico tank I've been lusting for forever. $98 though, eep.
Ack, and the Wild Bunch tank.
And this To A Tee Blazer - how cute and comfy is this - love the yellow!
I'm loving so many things at Anthro lately. Actually more excited about it than J.Crew's fall stuff so far.
Ann Taylor LOFT is right next to my Anthro, so I had to peek in there. I know Friends & Family is coming up, so I wanted to scope it out. Of course, I ended up buying a few things FP, so I'm hoping that they might adjust it for me with my F&F coupon. (Anyone know if they'll do this?)
First is a print dress that I'm not seeing online. I LOVE the print. It's crazy cute and comfortable. Fits nicely, with a little elastic bit in the waist to blouson it up a bit. Will be adorable with a long cardi & boots in the fall. It was $78. ETA: this is called the Abstract Waves Woven Dress, and right now is only available in store (although there's a link in petites to it, with no availability yet -- odd, but maybe they're adding soon.) The item # is: 87993738
Here it is belted and with the J.Crew Merino Open Cardigan (bronzed or warm clay? the one that was just a steal on final sale).
Next was another dress, the Silk Dress with Ruffle V-neck. I loved it on, and it was on sale for $70, which I felt was reasonable for silk and something that will transition into the fall. Oh, and I went to try it on with the same J.Crew cardi, and the colors are almost an exact match! Cardi may be just slightly darker, but seriously, it is the same. I knew I liked that color for some reason. J.Crew on the brain. Here it is plain and belted (cuter/prettier IRL though, fyi)
With the cardi/belt combo:
I also found a pretty purply printed scarf for $9.98 (final sale) that will look pretty with my J.Crew Carlin coat in the spiced wine color, as well as a crazy flower pin in wines/mauves, that I will add to the coat when I'm feeling jaunty/Boden-y.
And that, my friends, was my whirlwind shopping day. I think I'm actually shopped out (what?!), and am ready for a break.
What do you guys think? Anything you're buying or wishlisting at Anthro or Loft?
